Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) Training at Sholgar District
Project Name: Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) Training at Sholgar District
Project Location: Sholgar District of Balkh province
Duration of the project: 42 Day
Donor of the project: International organization for migration (IOM)
Women in Sholgar district have been identified as community members who have substantial potential to be positive change agents. However, there are minimal platforms for women to engage in constructive dialogue in Balkh district, Balkh province. Furthermore, platforms for inclusion in decision-making, discussions on community governance and women are non-existent. A lack of space for women to constructively engage in community-level decision making processes has marginalized this key demographic and allowed the past perceptions of women to persist in the district.
This activity aims to increase the knowledge of influential community leaders on topics related to prevention of violence against women through a training coordinated by the government in Sholgar, Balkh province. By supporting the Sholgar District - Office of the Governor, this five-day training on the elimination of violence against women for 40 influential community members will contribute to increasing citizen’s trust and confidence in their government.
